Matthew Weissman, PH.D.

Dr. Weissman has provided long-term, insight-oriented psychotherapy to hundreds of gay men in a comfortable, confidential, private-practice setting. In addition to intensive individual psychotherapy, he offers group, couples, and family treatment. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Sexology, with special interests in gay male identity formation and sexual health.

Clients often enter therapy with emotional or behavioral concerns such as depression, anxiety, loneliness, or substance abuse. They might also seek assistance with developmental challenges like coming out, forming relationships, parenting, or making healthy and fulfilling sexual choices. In addition to providing problem-specific guidance, Dr. Weissman is committed to the longer-term goals of personal psychotherapy: the consolidation of a coherent identity; greater capacities for intimacy, productivity, and creativity; and a stronger feeling of affiliation with one’s family and chosen community.
